Place Cadets delivers co-design projects that bring children’s knowledge and experience into the design of real public spaces.

Your support enables tamariki aged 5–12 to help design their schools, parks and public spaces. Through hands-on design, model-making, testing ideas and working alongside designers, tamariki contribute to real projects that shape the places they use every day.

Place Cadets creates more inclusive, well-used public spaces while building confidence, belonging, and a strong sense of manaakitanga (care) and kaitiakitanga (responsibility) among children and their communities.

Donations help fund the planning, coordination, professional expertise and hands-on activities that make Place Cadets possible. We combine donations with grants, sponsorship and project funding to deliver our work and reach more tamariki.

Keeping you informed

We share updates on our projects, explain what tamariki have contributed and what their ideas have helped achieve. We also provide an annual summary of our work and how funding has supported it.
